Big Buddha Pattaya

Description

Big Buddha, also known as Wat Phra Yai, is a must-visit attraction in Pattaya, featuring the largest Buddha image in Chonburi province. Located on top of Pratamnak Hill just south of the city, the golden Buddha image stands at an impressive 18 meters high and was constructed in 1977.

To reach the Buddha image, visitors can climb a long stairway flanked by two golden Naga snakes. The temple grounds also feature seven smaller Buddha images and a pavilion, making it a popular spot for locals to pay respect and pray for health, happiness, and wealth.

In addition to the Big Buddha, the hill offers some of the best views of Pattaya and the surrounding area, including Koh Larn Island. On the way up to the hill, visitors can also stop at Wang Sam Sien, a tranquil park featuring figures from Chinese history and folklore, including a white statue of the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin.

Getting to Big Buddha hill is easy by taxi or songthaew, and the attraction is open every day from 7 am until 10 pm. Admission is free, making it a great addition to any Pattaya itinerary.

For those looking to explore Pattaya, there are plenty of transportation options available, including taxis, tuk tuks, songthaews, and car rentals. Whether you're looking to visit Big Buddha or any of the other top attractions in the area, getting around Pattaya is easy and convenient.
